Meet Kris

IMG_0013

I first met Kris Elijah as our pediatrician’s nurse (and trust me, as a new mom, I wanted to make her and every other authority on babies from my obstetrician to the breast feeding consultant to the sales guy at Baby Gap…my new best friend). Having escaped that curse, later she became my kids’ school nurse at Lakeview, and like mother, like daughters, they have faked more than one malady just to visit her ; ) Of course I was super excited to see her at Kettlebells in the Park a couple of years ago. And it was really she and Dawn Fisher who can take credit for convincing us to look into weather-proof, year-round class options in Solon. Read on for all the “essential” facts about this rule-following, coffee-loving, kettlebell aficionado…

How long have you been at Catalyst and what keeps you coming back?

I started with Kettlebells in the Park 2 years ago. I love the variety of each workout. With the small class sizes, I feel I have my own personal trainer— which I need.

What’s your favorite strength move?

I can not believe I am going to say this but the Get-Up. Don’t kill me fellow friends.

What music did you listen to in high school?

Rock & Roll baby unless I was in the barn and then my parents had on old country.

What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? Why?

I love to vacation! To pick one is hard. I loved the Bahamas because it was with my husband and the girls. Swimming and Fun—what’s not to love. Belize with friends was amazing and beautiful. I am always ready for a warm, tropical vacation.

Which Halloween candy are you most likely to steal from your kids?

Anything with chocolate: snickers, milky way, almond joy

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

I love the kids! They say the craziest things!

Who is your hero and why?

My parents. They are both such amazing role models with a strong work ethic. They have taught me so many life lessons: family is the center with a strong faith base! They always put others first before their own needs.

What’s one thing you could not go a day without?

Coffee I have proven I can go without but why! I enjoy it so much!

What’s the last book you read?
I just finished Mean Streak by Sandra Brown. If you like a page turner, check it out.
If you had a warning label, what would yours say?
This lady is a rule follower.
