Meet Katie

Evening classes at Catalyst seem to be a well-kept secret!  If you haven’t tried one out yet, you likely haven’t had the privilege of meeting Katie Deike.  This supermom manages a household of 6, always seems to have a ready smile and helping hand, and manages to squeeze in a couple of Catalyst classes a week…and even look good doing it! Wondering how she does it? Read on for her signature move, morning drink of choice, and her family motto.

How long have you been at Catalyst and what keeps you coming back?

Over 2 years. I enjoy Catalyst because of the camaraderie (shoutout to Roze and the night crew), the individualized instruction and the variety of workouts offered.

What’s your favorite strength moveIMG_2944.JPG?

Well, this is a boring answer: it’s the plain old fashion 2H swing. I love that it quickly gets my heart rate up and works my entire body.

What is your morning drink of choice?

Coffee with almond milk and cinnamon…and if I’m being naughty, it’s 1/2 cappuccino 1/2 coffee from Casey’s…well, okay, maybe it’s more like 3/4 cappuccino 1/4 coffee.

How many students were in your graduating class?

I was proudly senior class president of 328 Marshalltown Bobcats 🙂

What’s your number one fear or phobia?

Falling or watching someone fall! I really hate heights and open railings. I legitimately have a tough time watching my kids play on playground equipment!

What’s your favorite holiday?

Christmas, hands down!

If you could join any past or current music group which would you want to join?

I’d join Frank Sinatra’s entourage.

Would you rather have the ability to be invisible or to read minds?

I feel a little voyeuristic saying it, but probably invisible.

Does your family have a “motto” – spoken or unspoken?

Don’t forget your prayers.

What is one thing you do for fun?

I have to confess, I may be somewhat of a magazine hoarder. I love to read and re-read magazines! Cooking/food and home decorating are my favs.
