Meet Hudson

If you’ve found the motivation to get to early morning Monday classes, you’ve likely had the pleasure of working out with Hudson Ludvigson. His dry sense of humor and quiet commentary help make Mondays survivable, and even enjoyable. As a student of strength, I especially appreciate his willingness to “nerd out” about nutrition, the nuances of a lift, habits, and even Big 10 football (although we don’t always agree on this one).  Read on for more about Hudson in his own words (which are way more entertaining than mine).

How long have you been at Catalyst and what keeps you coming back?

I can’t even recall when, Winter ’15 maybe, a post was put on Nextdoor about an open house at Catalyst.  I went and checked it out and have been attending classes ever since.  What keeps me coming back is the great instruction, variety of options presented, the chance to learn something new, but mostly it’s all the laughing/fun that goes on at 5:30 AM with the stories, jokes, and occasional junior-high level humor.  Plus, I won’t workout on aMonday morning unless I have someone telling me what to do.

What’s your favorite strength move?IMG_5775

Tough call, but either deadlifts or carries of any type.  Even when I want to do exactly zero working out I can always motivate myself to do some carries

What would you most like to learn? Why?

Too many things, who knows.  How to calm myself the hell down when my kids are acting bat shit crazy seems most relevant to my life right now

What’s your favorite type of foreign food?

Thai Chicken Green Curry

Are you an introvert or an extrovert?

Yes.  I enjoy being around people, have a lot of fun conversing, hearing the stories, ideas, and perspectives of others, but I’m a pain in the ass without my solitary time.

What would you sing at Karaoke night?

I wouldn’t subject anyone to my singing.

What music did you listen to in high school?

Nirvana, Mellencamp, Nine Inch Nails, Hendrix

Would you rather meet your ancestors or descendants?

What was the last movie/tv show you watched? Would you recommend it?

Yellowstone (Paramount channel), and if you are fine with dark dramas or Westerns, then yep I’d recommend.

Where is your favorite place to be (besides Catalyst)?

Oh man, that’s a tough one.  I enjoy travelling places so it’s tempting to just say ‘someplace I’ve never been’, but of the places I’ve been I really enjoy the Pacific Northwest/Western Canada BC area.  There are nearly an endless number of places to be out in nature and hike, explore, snowboard, and surf.  Cape Flattery is the edge of nowhere, but a gorgeous place to sit and enjoy the sound of the ocean and a sunset.  Stevens Pass in February allows night skiing/snowboarding and being out on the ski lift with a full moon on the snow covered mountains is striking.
