Product of Woodstock, occupational therapist by day, and possibly the coolest mom ever, Anne Stupar’s sense of adventure, a ready smile (even at 6:15am!), and a to-die-for pull ups make early mornings in North Liberty worth the wake up call! Read on her favorite strength move, karaoke song of choice, and one thing she will never do again.
How long have you been at Catalyst and what keeps you coming back?
A little over 2 years. When I first joined, my intention was to learn some of the basics and then complete the workouts at home. I quickly changed my mind after attending only a few classes. Several things keep me coming back: The expertise and training of Steph and Cara (Monte, Roze, and Melissa too); The people. I love my morning workout buddies; they’re the best. Such a great group of people – fun to work out with and supportive of each other; The variety of the workouts; The challenge of working up to the next skill or bell; The list goes on and on…I’m kinda addicted now and probably will be doing it into my 80’s 😉 Steph and Cara, you up for that?
What’s your favorite strength move?
Hard to pick so I’ll give you my top three: 2-handed swings, Get-Ups and Pull-ups. Pretty much anything except presses.
What’s your favorite board/card/table game?
Telestrations after dark. Telestrations is kind of a combination of Pictionary and the game of telephone – Hilarious! There is a cleaner version (simply called Telestrations) but the After Dark version of the game adds a little edge and a lot more humor. Highly recommended.
What’s your middle name?
What was the last thing you ate?
Lobster Ravioli with shrimp, veggies and a white wine sauce…mmmmm
What would you sing at Karoake night?
Brown-Eyed Girl. Most Stephen Kellogg songs. Although, after a few drinks, my list of karaoke songs would probably quickly expand.
What’s one thing you wish would come back into fashion?
Can’t think of anything. Even if I did want something to come back into fashion, I’d probably still wear my favorite and standard apparel: jeans or shorts and a t-shirt.
Where did you grow up?
Woodstock…Not THE Woodstock. Woodstock, Illinois. Our biggest claim to fame was the movie Groundhog Day with Bill Murray being filmed there. If you’ve seen the movie then you’ve seen the whole town.
What is one thing you will never do again?
If you had a time machine for the weekend, where would you go?
Nothing too crazy or long ago, only to back to about 2000 before my Dad passed away. I’d love to sit and visit with him, hear his perspective on life now that I’m a little older and a little more willing to listen, introduce him to Sofie, tell him all about the last several years…
